Isolate vocals and instruments from any audio file for free with BandLab Splitter. Secure 5 monthly splits at $0 to separate 4-stem tracks directly into a professional cloud editor, optimizing workflows for producers who require immediate pitch manipulation and remixing capabilities without complex DAW installations.
You know that feeling when you love a song but hate the singer? Or maybe you’re a drummer who just wants to hear the bassline without the noise? BandLab Splitter is the tool that finally makes fixing that easy. It takes any song you upload and uses AI to rip it apart into separate tracks (vocals, drums, bass, instruments)—and yes, it actually works.
Here is the kicker: It is one of the few high-quality splitters left that lets you download your stems without immediately hitting a paywall—though they have recently tightened the leash.
4-Stem Separation: It breaks your audio file into four isolated distinct tracks: Vocals, Drums, Bass, and Other.
In-Browser Studio: Unlike most splitters that just give you a ZIP file, this opens the stems directly in BandLab’s cloud editor.
Speed & Pitch Control: Built-in sliders to change the tempo or key of the separated stems.
In late 2025, BandLab introduced stricter limits. While it used to be a free-for-all, they have pivoted to a "freemium" model to push their Membership. The days of unlimited free splitting are gone, but the free tier is still usable for casuals.
| Plan | Cost | Key Limits/Perks |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 splits per month (Refreshes monthly). Limited to 4 stems (Vocals, Drums, Bass, Other). Standard processing speed. |
| Membership | $14.95/mo | Unlimited splits. Unlocks 6 stems (adds separate Guitar and Piano tracks). Faster processing & higher quality export options. |
The Catch: The "5 splits per month" is a hard cap. If you are a producer trying to sample 20 songs a day, the free version won't cut it. Also, the free version lumps guitars and pianos into the "Other" category, which can get muddy.
If you hit your 5-song limit, here is where else you can look:
Moises.ai: The direct rival.
Lalal.ai: The "Pay-Per-Slice" option.
UVR5 (Ultimate Vocal Remover): The nuclear option.
BandLab Splitter is no longer the unlimited buffet it once was, but it remains the best "gateway drug" into music production. It turns the mysterious "black box" of a finished song into a set of LEGO bricks you can actually play with.
For the average person who just wants to make a mashup for a wedding or learn a bassline, the 5 free splits are plenty. It reminds us that in 2025, creativity isn't about having the raw talent to play every instrument—it's about having the taste to curate the pieces.
